As I said in the description for the Texas fan, my mother-in-law commissioned two fans from me. One of the two was going to be a gift for a family friend who'd done a bunch of helpful stuff for my mother-in-law, and this family friend happened to be quite like my husband and myself: a geek. Fantasy fan, roleplayer, manager at a gaming store, etc. So my mother-in-law chose a dragon theme.
She really liked the blue water dragon from the AB08 set I did, so I went with that for this fan. I decided to elaborate on the design, though, adding more frills to the dragon in question as well as adding some scenery to allow for more color. If there's one complaint I had with the previous water dragon when I finished it, it was that the dragon started to blend into the background. So I tried to avoid that with this fan.
This dragon has more frills and fins than the other one, and I gave it some seaweed and a rock to put some life into the fan's design. I ran out of time before I could figure out how to do some good background color variation, sadly. Oh well.
The tassel for this fan was fun to do. I decided to take two colors of thread that I had, light blue and cream, and mix them for the tassel. The string is made from twisting the two colors together, and the tassel is an even mix. The beads came from the craft store, where I spotted these lovely green-brown and blue doughnut beads with black accent beads on a strand and decided to combine them for the tassel decoration.I quite like the effect.
I really like this fan, and was kind of sad to hand it over to my mother-in-law. At least I got good photos.
TD: mechanical pencil, Staedtler pens, and watercolors on a premade fan; DMC embroidery floss and glass beads. Approx. 7 hours. (You try drawing something that detailed on a pre-folded fan!)
Steal, and I smack you around with the leftover beads.
really awesome. my mom just looks at me like..."she's getting ANOTHER fan....?".....but she doesn't say anything. lol. i'm not sure if she wants me to have one or not, but i'll let you know if she says yes. i'm still waiting on the reply, that and my computer gets so slow sometimes that i can't get on too often. so, i'll respond when and if i get the chance, k? talk to you soon!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!

I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
