This was a recent commission completed for a friend. She wanted a set of six fans to put in her kitchen over her cabinets, and ultimately decided on flowers, in a rainbow of colors (as much as we could manage with flowers), with dark backgrounds.

The flowers chosen are (from top-left to bottom-right) lotus, cherry blossom, hibiscus, daffodil, tulip, and sterling rose. She wanted all the blooms to be about the same size as each other, hence the relative sizes of the cherry blossoms and hibiscus. Each is on a black background to unify the set, and the flowers and leaves all take up about the same amount of space on their respective fans. Some are obviously a little more densely packed than others.

The tassels are also fairly uniform in style. Each is a black tassel of embroidery floss, with two smaller glass beads framing a larger, foil-lined glass bead in a similar or complementary color. My favorite tassel is the cherry blossom one (pinks framing a foiled white bead).

I'm also jazzed because this is the first set of photos I've taken with my new lightbox, and it looks like it worked quite well.

TD: mechanical pencil, inking pens, and watercolors on prefolded paper fans. Approx. 5-6 hours per fan.
