Liberty - Let Freedom Ring by ah-kaziya Liberty - Let Freedom Ring by ah-kaziya
Ok, first off, this was originally intended to celebrate the American Independence Day, but while I got it drawn and scanned before July 4th, I didn't get to finish coloring it until now. I partially blame Anime Expo, but hey, I wanted to go. ^_^

It's Liberty, as in the Statue of Liberty (yes, I be American), holding the Title of Liberty mentioned in Mormon scripture (yes, I be Mormon). For those who don't know what the Title of Liberty is, here's the explanation:

Captain Moroni, leader of the Nephite armies, tore his cloak and wrote upon it words to remind his people what they were fighting for, what they were defending. He put the rent piece of his coat on a pole and raised it to rally his people against an evil man who was conspiring to be king. The words on the banner were these: "In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children."

I thought it fitting to draw Liberty holding the Title of Liberty. ^_^;

The text on the banner itself is the words quoted above and in English on the picture. I merely typed them in a font that I thought looked like ancient writing.

I like how the sky and the rock came out, as well as Liberty herself, but I don't like the water. ::kicks the water:: I need to study more water pictures.

Anyway, happy belated-or-not Independence Day to anyone who celebrates it! And anyone who doesn't, for that matter. ^_^

And any flames I get for this (though I don't see why I'd get any) will be used to roast marshmallows.

TD: mechanical pencil on sketch paper, PSP7 and mouse.

EDIT: Just updating the image from .png to .jpg.

I didn't realize for a second there that what I was reading was from the Book of Mormon, then I'm like "Heck yes!" I love it! Great job!

And thus, Captain Moroni took his army forth to sell his mini Titles of Liberty at every corner store in the land Desolation.

Excellent job with the color scheme!

Love the ideas behind this and great job on the art; at first I thought it was Princess Zelda (and was like, "why does she have green eyes?") and then I saw the Scripture and was like, "Awesome sauce!" We did the BoM in Institute this year, and I remember having a really great discussion when we got to that part in Alma :)

I thought it particularly fitting to draw Lady Liberty holding the Title of Liberty.

It seriously is one of my favorite parts of the BoM.

::laughs at the idea of Zelda holding the Title::

It's a great idea, because it's like, one is the words and the other is the figure that represents them.

I love that part too; Alma is one of those books I think I could read repeatedly for a year and get something new, and a deeper understanding of what I'd already learned, out of it.

Oh, when I realized it wasn't her, I thought it was hilarious

We're almost to that part during our scripture study with my preschooler.

Stop, you're going to make me want to sketch it out now, and it's laaaate. ;)

Well there is a club around here called "sons of heleman" or something like that, I saw it once. I may be LDS but I tend to draw far too dark of art to be part of any club for it *laughs* oh dear maybe one day I will get out of my fantasy stage and draw inspireing art *laughs*
